I’m Ali from alibalijewellery. I started jewellery making 3 years ago using traditional silver smithing techniques. A friend introduced me to precious metal shortly after that and I quickly became fascinated with this recycled form of silver. Since you work with wet clay form, it opens up possibilities to create items which would take many hours of labour using traditional sterling silver. It’s a fantastic material to work with and I love the fact that it’s made from fine silver which otherwise would simply have been dumped!
I like creating jewellery for women with clean, simple lines and adding the odd splash of colour. I frequently add semi precious stones, freshwater pearls or lampwork beads from a local artist to my work.

Living in Scotland, a lot of my inspiration comes from our fantastic landscapes and coastline. I frequently cast precious metal clay on organic found items such as shells, leaves or stones! Many of the colours of Scotland are appearing more and more in my work.

I adore custom orders, I love that often a custom order will spark a whole new host of ideas and also working with my client to create something which is utterly bespoke and unique to them.
