This is a short post about something I just discovered. You may have heard about it already since you are so savvy and I’m just not your average farmer but I got really excited about this website called Veggie Trader. And it’s FREE to join.
Did you have a great farming season? Do you have an abundant tomato crop this year? How about kale? Carrots? Or may be you didn’t have a good veggie season but have some seeds to trade?
You need Veggie Trader, where you can trade your crop with someone else’s crop. It works like Craigslist, but for veggies. What a brilliant idea! This reminds me of old time markets where you go to buy eggs with your corn . (Except, you can’t trade dairy on Veggie Trader.) Who needs money when you have foods to trade?
This is how it works…..
You post a listing describing the excess produce you have and what you’d like in return, and then you wait for a response…
Or, if you are looking for local produce, you simply enter your zip code and see what your neighbors have available. You can also post specific produce you are looking for in Wanted section and see which of your neighbors answers your request. How simple is that?
Now go trade your parsnips for corn or trade herb seeds for some tomatoes.
Remember its FREE to join.
