Twilight Visions is owned by an environmentally conscious jewelry artist who gets her inspiration from mother nature. Rachel grew up in the wildest, most untouched state of Alaska, so it’s only natural a lot of her pieces reflect such raw beauty. Recently, she has gone back to school to pursue a degree in Biology with a concentration in conservation. This life changing decision was roused by her profound affection for the environment and interest in science.

Cats or dogs?
Definitely cats, I have two of which one is a diabetic, I call him my special little guy. Cats make you work for their love and nothing is better than a kitty purring in your lap when you feel down.
Star Wars or Sleepless in Seattle?
Hmm not really a big fan of either, but if I had to pick it would be Sleepless in Seattle to placate the romantic in me.
Fruit or chocolate?
I love both but I’m going to have to go with chocolate especially if it’s paired with mint.
Favorite color?
Olive Green, I own so much of this color and really need to branch out!
Hemp Verde Necklace
Favorite meal?
Tofu Pad Thai with veggie spring rolls is my most favorite meal.
City break or weekend in the country?
When I’m living in the city I like the weekend break in the forest, and when living in a small town I need my city fix. I love the culture, art, and food of a city and the stillness of the forest.
Soaps or documentaries?
No question – it’s documentaries. I’m a bit of a film buff and nerd. I love obscure documentaries and I’m in love with the Planet Earth series.
Bath or shower?
Baths are great in the winter, but showers are more practical and save water.
Dress or jeans?
I’m more of a pants person but once in a while I like to wear a comfy t-shirt dress or skirt.
Your favorite material?
The things I find on the ground like shells, feathers, crystals, and vintage components from yard sales or thrift stores. I feel like the object directs me in the design when it’s more organic.

What brought you to Etsy? Tell us about your shop.
A friend of mine sells on Etsy and recommended I try it. I opened a shop a year later and I’m happy to be there. I was selling in galleries prior to joining etsy and I got a little tired of dealing with the high consignment fees and the many personalities of gallery owners. I’ve been making jewelry for about 7 years and I also make may other things I do not sell on etsy such as driftwood mobiles, sun catchers, scarves and paintings. I find my niche is the jewelry though.
How is your shop eco-friendly?
I save anything reusable for packaging, upcycle vintage components, buttons, chain and broken pieces of jewelry. I include cards in my packages that have environmental facts on them to educate and encourage my customers to be eco conscious.
What’s the favorite item you’ve made so far?
I really like the chunky, multi-strand hemp necklaces I make and my favorite one so far is full of different hand collected shells and rose quartz leaves.

What has been the most useful lesson you’ve learned (about Etsy) so far?
The garden takes a lot of tending to see growth and produce fruit. Don’t expect to everyone to see you if all you do is list. You need to bring people to your shop.
How do you see your store developing?
I’d love for it become my main source of income. I went back to school last year for a degree in Biology with a focus in conservation, and it would be pretty sweet to not have a “day job”. I get so much of my inspiration from nature. I suppose it’s only natural being from Alaska which is one of the most wildest places in the US.
What have you been doing today that I’ve interrupted?
My forum lurking☺
