How to add Feedburner E-mail Subscription form

October 1, 2009

I posted about adding content titles to your posts for e-mail subscribers this week and I realized I was ahead of myself.

Some of you didn’t know how to add the e-mail subscription form to your blog.

There are alot of e-mail management companies that you can use – some are free and some are not.

I like feedburner for the simple e-mail subscription feature. It’s up to you how you want to use your e-mail addresses but I personally don’t like to fill up your inbox with gazillions marketing mails. I simply want my readers to receive my posts right to their inbox rather than having to search Google Reader.

So I signed up with feedburner (owned by Google) and registered my blog.

I won’t go into to how to add your blog in this post but I will tell you how to add e-mail subscription form on your blog page.

Go to: Publicize –> Email Subscriptions –> Subscription Management.

You’ll see this screen.

Choose what language you want your blog to be delivered from the  drop down menu in the middle of the screen.

If you have Blogger or TypePad, it’s really simple. Choose blogger or TypePad under “Use as a widget in” prompt in the bottom of the screen. And then, click the “Go!” button right next to it. A new window will open up and it will look like this.

See the left sidebar on the top where it says “Subscribe via email”? The form gets automatically uploaded as soon as you hit “Go!”

It’s done! See how easy it is?

Now, if you have any other platforms like  Word Press like I do, it’s a couple of more steps but still very simple to do.

Go back up to the feedburner page where you see all the gobblygook of codes in the window below language drop down menu.

Copy the whole entire kit and kaboodle and paste it to the widget on your blog. Make sure you don’t lose a period or a bracket.

Voila! That’s it! Now your faithful readers can get their posts delivered right to their inboxes.

I love that.

If you are not subscribing to my posts yet, (shame on you!) be sure to sign up on that little form on the right upper hand corner where it says “Special Sales, Giveaways, & Coupons for E-Mail Subscribers!” because I will have specials for my faithful readers soon! And I promise, I won’t send you any creepy e-mails or sell them to any foreign princes who wants you to bail him out so that you can split the his estate.

I hope the tutorial was helpful! Let me know how successful you were in uploading the email subscription form.

And come back and let me know you added the form so I can subscribe to your blog, finally!!
