They don’t need jewelry,
or fancy collars.
They don’t need engraved food bowls
or elaborate beds.
Animals only need some warm old blankets,
and some kibbles.
They only need your love and maybe
worn out sock-turned-chewable toys.
They are hungry and lonely.
They just need shelter that’s homely.
Please donate old blankets, sheets, old sweater or coats to any animal shelters in your neighborhood.
They don’t need much. But they do need warmth this cold winter.

This is so true! Our local shelter has been overflowing with pets this last year. I wish I could adopt more, but my two kitties are what my house can handle. Donating can be a fun thing too - my kids' school is collecting donations and I think having a contest among the classes for donations. When we donate directly to the shelter, we always go pet the kitties too so they get a little attention.
Amy, We couldn't find a puppy when we were looking to adopt six years ago but I noticed recently there are so many puppies and kittens for adoption now. With the economy as bad as it is, people just can't afford to take care of pets anymore and are bringing them to shelters. I'm glad that they are not abandoning them but it's up to us to donate whatever we can so that shelters can stay open and survive. Did you click the video? It is so cute.
