Karen...soo sorry. What a mess. We used to live by SF Bay, on fill. Water table so high there was sump going all the time. House had mold, condensation on windows! Yech!
Here comes the flood…
I'd love to get posts like these in my inbox!
*Your email is not for sale or rent, even for a bazillion dollars.Oh my gosh! The towel in the puddle just gave me flash backs to my house 2 days ago. I think I've washed every towel we own. I feel your pain, sistah. Hang in there!
Oh, that's a canvas cloth that we frantically threw in. I used up about six towels in other areas. I've had it at this point (see the dry area in the middle?) and literally threw in the towel and went upstairs. Once the sump pump was fixed, the water receded. And after the floor was gone, we started the dehumidifier, non-stop. It's raining again today and I am cringing. But basement will dry out. And I know better now to test the pump once in awhile.
ooh - it makes me so sad to see the wood floor gone! May your recovery efforts go smoothly and quickly! (*hugs*!)
After the last flood, we installed a sump pump. But it didn't start. Isn't that always the case? Now, we are thinking tiling the basement. No more wood or anything that we have to take up if it floods again.
sad! we get flooding in our basement and backyard, too. but there's no creek or anything around, just no place for the water to go in our block. i hope nothing was damaged and cleanup is as easy as it can be!
The running water in the first picture is down the hill, about two blocks away from my house. It is never, ever, 'flowing' with water. The water is stagnant and stale. But, after this very snowy winter and the couple of downpours we had recently, it almost overflowed. But like you, it's not this river/creek that go into my basement. It was the water that couldn't go anywhere, because ground is so saturated, that got into my basement. And add a failed sump pump to the mix..... ergo.....this mess. Ugh.
