It’s a Challenging Week!

It seems like January is the belt-tightening, de-cluttering, simplifying, and downsizing time of the year, even in terms of finance. But you can’t join every challenge there is.

So, in addition to my own “De-Clutter 2012 Challenge“, I’ve joined two more challenges and I want to tell you about them.

First is 23 Days of Frugal Living Challenge that started on January 6th.

Why attempt a frugal living challenge?

First, because living frugally allows for you to spend less than you earn. And the benefits from this are endless. You can use the difference to: get caught up on late payments, pay off debt, save, and potentially invest.
Second, because the less you spend, the less is required for you to earn. The benefits of this one mean: you and/or your spouse have the potential to work less, you obtain freedom from a wage, you may have the opportunity to pursue your true passions, and you may be able to retire early.

Frugal living is not suppressive! Quite the opposite, it means breaking free of the chains that bind us to unfulfilled lives.

It means spending more time with the people that mean the most. It’s having conversations, reading for leisure, growing in knowledge, enjoying nature, doing things that you think are fun, exercising, being a slave to no one, and focusing on what truly is important. The good life is waiting!

I’m all for it! Aren’t you? Go sign up now. It started on January 6th. Even if you can only do it for a few days and not the whole month, that’s better than not trying. You’ll learn a great deal from the process…like how to save money, and who wouldn’t want to save money, right? Right.

The second challenge I signed up – and both of these challenges are in line with my own so keeping up with them will be a breeze – is called “Simple Living Challenge” by Sonya Kanelstrand. Her pledge includes de-cluttering “stuff” to simplify your life. This challenge will start on February 1st. So if you’ve joined my challenge, you’ll be ahead of the game!

3 reasons to join the challenge

  • Simple life means deliberate life and leads to realization of your strengths, passions and abilities. Simple life means noticing details, living sensibly and enjoying each step of the way.
  • Simplifying your life is easy, unlike what most experts tell you. The only tool you need is willingness and determination.
  • Trying to reduce stress and increase joy of life is a promising start to a new year. It is a great start to any period of the year actually, and you can do it any time.

See? Both of these challenges are in sync with what I’m trying to do and have you join me.

Live free of “stuff”. Live simply. Live frugally.

Let’s invite others to join us. Let’s do it together!

Are you up for the challenge? Have you joined my “De-Clutter 2012 Challenge“?
