It’s the birds laying eggs season. Geese, ducks, robins, sparrows, hummingbirds……you name it, they are laying eggs everywhere. And it’s a nuisance when it’s right front of your house. Now, now, calm down before you star throwing eggs at me. (couldn’t resist
)
You see, my front steps become a bird poop obstacle course. A bird always always builds her nest in the juniper tree or the holly tree right next to the steps.
I mean, they are pretty, the nest, the eggs, the babies when they hatch…but I am constantly washing the poop off the steps. You see, these mama birds are smart. She does not want the big mean crow to get to the eggs or the baby birds when they hatch. So she purposely builds her nest, right near the house because she knows a big bad crow won’t come that close to the house. And sure enough, the mama robin builds a nest, inside the closest tree to the house, on the branch closest to the house. Smart Mama!
Look at this one nest that we found right on top of the door frame a couple of years ago! My mom put a board underneath so it won’t fall down. Unfortunately, mama bird never came back. I guess she didn’t agree with our foundation job.
Whether they are building a nest near the house or literally, on the house, I find robins egg blue really beautiful.
Lilfishstudios discovered these speckled blue eggs in a Chipping Sparrow’s nest in her woods.
Regardless where they are building their nests, I love robin’s egg blue so I went to check what beautiful blue items I can find on Etsy.
And you can give them in this “famous” gift box.
I can’t stop staring at these blue eggs. How do birds produce such beautiful color? Nature is amazing, isn’t it?
Have you seen a bird’s egg recently?
