De-Clutter 2012 Challenge

It’s 2012 and there are enough resolution posts on the blogsphere to make my migraine become a clinical case.

That’s why I am not going to make one. Resolutions never work for me, I’ll be honest, but I do make a plan to accomplish one thing every year. And when I do accomplish it, I go on to another one. This way, I don’t disappoint myself and I don’t feel like a failure. One bite at a time, that’s what I say.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. When I say, “one” thing, I don’t’ mean, “Lose 20 pounds” or “exercise every day”. I mean, accomplishable plans…like volunteer at a non-profit organization. Or don’t go out to eat more than twice a month. Write letters…etc.

This year’s plan is going to be the uber de-cluttering year. I mean, s.e.r.i.o.u.s. de-cluttering. I am not a hoarder but I can use some intense cleaning of cobwebbed closets and memorabilia filled shelves.

But because I don’t want to be alone in this journey, I am going to challenge you.

Yup! I am going to challenge you to beat me in number of items you are going to de-clutter in one month.

And when I say, “de-clutter”, I don’t mean, throw them out. No.

You can donate or sell. But obviously, if they are really unusable or broken, you can throw them out. The idea is to clean your life of “stuff” that you don’t need. To downsize. To purge. To evaluate what do you really need to live?

I will be posting every week, a short post on what I’m throwing out. This way, I’m committed and you’ll see I mean business.

Will you take the challenge? If you want to, here is what you’ll need to do.

  • Commit to the challenge and sign up below.
  • Add the badge to your blog’s post or on the sidebar so you can tell your readers you are taking steps to simplify your life. Don’t have a blog? Spread the word on social media!
  • Sign up for e-mail updates so you can see how you are doing compared to me and others.
  • We will compare on February 3rd – in four weeks – how we did

And that’s it!

Let’s see how many items we’ll purge from our lives in one month. Make sure to keep a record how many items you sold, donated, and recycled. I am going to continue this for the year but you and I can compare notes in one month. We’ll start in small increments. Maybe you’ll have so much fun that you’ll continue for a year, like me.

Imagine all the clean spaces we’ll create and how simpler our lives would be!!

Sign the challenge form below and let’s start purging!
