Whole Living and Country Living

Do you feel like 24 hours in a day is never enough? Can you use another day in a week? Do you have a pile of magazines and newspaper sections that you save to read ‘later’ when you have the ‘time’? I do too. But there are two magazines that I always read cover to cover before they hit the ‘pile’ as I carry them from the mailbox. One talks [...]

Ecogeneration’s Furoshiki Tutorial Part 2.

2) Machine Sewn Silk Furoshiki To make this silk furoshiki, I had to buy silk scraps because I didn’t have any in my collection. But still, I bought an inexpensive pack of scraps and not a whole yard from a wonderful etsy seller, Purseapalooza. Ecogeneration’s How To Make Furoshiki Tutorial: Part 1.

Unfortunately, since I am only working with orphaned beads, still charming and beautiful, I can’t take custom orders. Each of my [...]

Felting a wool sweater – is it eco friendly?

I tried felting. I can see how it could be considered a noble way to repurpose an old wool sweater. But, it took too much energy, mine and the earth’s, just to make it look, well, worth the time and resources. I manage to do one sweater but it took two days, five separate washings (couldn’t wash it with anything else for it might ruin other clothes from lint balls!!!!!) [...]
